4 Seasons of Adventure in Vancouver

Perfectly positioned at the foot of mountains and edged by the Pacific Ocean, mild-weathered Vancouver is just about the best place to find your own adventure. Discover where locals love to go all year long and find your season to join them.

Winter's Wonders

Mountain views are always on display in Vancouver, and better yet — they’re easy to reach. Within 15 minutes from downtown, Grouse Mountain is your gateway to peak winter activities, from downhill skiing to zip-lining over a snowy alpine forest. Cypress Mountain has such world-class slopes that it was home to snowboarding and freestyle skiing events during the 2010 Olympic Winter Games, while non-skiers will thrill over snow tubing and snowshoeing trails. Prefer to stay in bustling downtown? Follow the families to Robson Square’s popular outdoor ice skating rink that’s open in winter months.

Spring Fever

Vancouver’s fresh air and flowering blossoms will put an extra spring in your step. Stanley Park is a green oasis in the heart of the city, ideal for riding a bicycle or strolling along the Seawall. On nearby Granville Island, you can taste your way through favorite local finds in the public market, like specialty Canadian cheeses at Benton Brothers Fine Cheese and Muffin Granny’s famous fresh-baked treats. This is also the spot to browse through original artwork, jewelry, and other handcrafted goods. Another tip: Spring is the best time to spot Pacific Gray whales swimming their way north.

Summer's Splendors

Grab a kayak in False Creek and catch spectacular views of downtown, while spotting playful marine life in the wild as you paddle past Granville Island and English Bay. In Vancouver, you can go from gliding through the water to walking in the skies. Stand atop the evergreens, peering down into lush forests and rushing waters at Capilano Suspension Bridge Park. Summertime is fully alive as you cross seven suspended footbridges standing 110 feet above the forest floor. Follow the 300-foot-high Cliffwalk across a series of cantilevered bridges, stairs and platforms that perfectly connect with the granite precipice.

Autumn's Treasures

You’ll fall in love with Vancouver as the city is awash in brilliant foliage. Find amazing colors all throughout Stanley Park and in the beautifully cultivated landscapes of VanDusen Botanical Garden. For a different point of view, soar over the treetops on a floatplane tour or hop aboard a helicopter to fly to the nearby Okanagan wine district. Undulating vineyards and charming wineries are buzzing during harvest season, and it’s just the right time to stop in to sample varietals that span the palate-pleasing spectrum from syrah to riesling.
